japan!

fuck, i'm going to japan!!
sometimes i'm just doing something, like work, or whatever, and it suddenly just hits me again. I'm going to japan!! i'm going to the country that makes me so happy, my favorite place in the world. I'm spending a whole year there, and the next time i read this, i'll be back from there, maybe… wow…
i found out what district i'm going to. i'm going to the area of Gifu and Mie, in central japan. it's maybe a bit more rural than i would have liked, but who cares!?!!? I'M GOING TO JAPAN!!!!! :D

now, back to work…

best day of my life…!! so far :D

ok, so let's set the scene. I was pretty pissed at mum and dad last night, coz i needed to keep working, and they're like: go to bed! etc.

so next morning, i got to school early, so that grace could go to orchestra. so i'm in the library, doing my english, when i get a call from mum. i'm thinking, oh god, what's she going to tell me off for now? i answer, and she's like: "are you sitting down?" and i'm like "what?" coz it made no sense to me at the time. so then she's like: "sit down, i've got some good news to tell you!.

"the rotary woman called, and it seems as if the youth exchange officer of the Japanese district was just on holidays! he found the emails, and said, 'yes, please come and do an exchange here!' " so i'm all like WTF!!! i was so happy, i have never been so happy in my entire life to find out that i'm able to go on exchange to Japan!! I know germany would've been great too, but i'm so delighted that i can go to the country that i wanted so desperately to go to!

It was so good to tell mrs thomas. she was so happy for me, as were the rest of the year 11s (especially shivaun and rachael) :D. i realised that i've only got 8 months and one day until I LEAVE!!!!! i'll be having my 18th birthday less than a month into my exchange. i'm so looking forward to it.

the rest of the day was so good. all my teachers were happy for me, i handed up some english and had a physics test (i went ok, not great) and then in the afternoon, i had cross country. i came 39th in the year 11 and 12 boys, which is ok, but now my legs are really sore! :D

anyway, i've got some debating thing now that i'm helping samuel out wiht now, so i'll get to that. cya!!

looking forward to quiz night too, that should be fun.

o my fucking god, i'm going to JAPAN FOR A WHOLE YEAR!!!!!

school work

i'm incapable of working. no joke. right now, i should be doing my physics prac, and then some japanese, and then some english, (1000 words, due wednesday), but instead, i'm just wasting time on here. putting pictures, and gadgets and everything up on my blog. god, i'm useless. why the hell did they accept me anyway? i got crap results last year, and i was constantly whinging to them to give me a country that is flat out ignoring us. sldkfjasldkjf;alsjdhglaskdfj

i was thinking about japan and germany last night. for some reason, i'm finding my self really excited about going to germany. i've got no idea why… i went on the vodafone germany website too, and attempted to try and understand something. it's so difficult. i can almost manage on NTT Docomo websites, but german is just so long and crazy to read, i'm not sure if i would be able to do it. japanese would be so much easier for me, i'd be speaking great in a matter of months! what should i do? i'm really not sure…

anyway, i've still got two weeks left until i have to decide, maybe something will come by then…

let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.

hey, my name's Ben, and i'm going to go on an exchange in 2010. this'll be my blog, outlining my thoughts, and what i'm doing, and things like that. I do japanese at school, and i've been doing it for 6 years now, and I love it; so i plan to go there for this exchange.

yesterday, i had my district interview with rotary. i think i went really well, and i was happy with my performance. however, they flat out told me that i can't go to japan, because the district hasn't replied to any of the correspondence my district has put out. they reckon it might be because there was a girl that left after several months 2 years ago, and so they don't want another crazy emotional australian again! :D

so today, at about 5:30, my councellor called to tell me that I had been allocated a country. i knew it wasn't going to be japan (even though i was still hoping that it was, in the back of my mind). he told me that he'd been trying to get in contact with the district, and then finally told me my country.

if i accept the offer that rotary has offered me, i will be going to…

GERMANY!!!!!!!

i've been there before, with my family, in 2007. my favorite memories of it were driving around on the autobahns, which was great fun, especially in a big black S-Class mercedes at 200km/h! :D i liked the country, and the people were very interesting, but i'm still slightly sad that i can't go to japan. but, there's nothing that can be done about it. *sigh*.

i've don't have to accept or decline for another two weeks, so if the japanese district suddenly makes contact in that time, i might still be able to go with them, which is what i would love. but if that doesn't happen, then i could possibly go with AFS to japan instead. but, i know that they won't be as good, nor will they be as cheap, and it won't look as good on my resume, but, i can almost definitely go to japan. so it's a bit tough, trying to work out if i would rather take my guaranteed place in germany, or go with a weaker organisation to japan, the country i've been dreaming about going to for literally years.

i've never done any german before, only french in junior school, and japanese from year 7 onwards, and i know that it would be a major disappointment if i just let all that knowledge and genuine interest in that country go, and start again with another. but, i know that i've got a definite place in germany, if i want it, so it's a really tough decision as to whether i go or not. i'm not sure if i will be able to throw away something that's definite to go for a gamble. it's like, double or nothing. it's scary.

anway, i'll type more later.
enjoy, all of nobody reading this.
